How to Make an Outfit Look Expensive

So let’s be honest, life’s expensive!! Everything .. EVERY.SINGLE.PART. I always want to keep it real with y’all, I budget when it comes to pretty much everything. I love an outfit that looks expensive, especially when I got it for a good deal! I'm a huge believer in getting quality pieces that you can mix and match with more trending/ designer pieces. But really, you don't need to own expensive things to look expensive!

Monochrome:|| If in doubt, always go with ALL black, ALL white, or even neutrals. Going monochrome has the power of making an outfit you got on sale look like one of the most expensive outfit you own. Plus, who doesn't love the fact that all black makes you look T Tiny!

Belts:|| This part can totally change a look! It can bring it from drab to fab in one step! Most of my belts were bought used because ya girl is on a BUDGET! But really, I would even buy a belt new because I wear them that much plus the resale value is close to what you pay out of the door for one.

Accessorize:|| Invest in a couple of classic pieces or even just a pair of diamond earring from T.J. Maxx. I love the look of gold jewelry, even if it's just a simple gold necklace. I love layering gold jewelry as well. I linked some inexpensve jewelry options that you will wear with everything!

Bags:|| So this is where I splurge! A bag is something you will have forever. This is where I invest!! You can make a $5 shirt look like a million bucks. Most of my bags were bought brand new, but some of the more expensive (I mean I would never buy brand new LOL) are used. Used is always a great option!

**My husband never understood why we girl spend so much on handbags. My mom got the bucket LV when I was born (25 years ago) and she STILL carries it to this day!!!! CRAZY RIGHT?!** IT'S WORTH THE INVESTMENT!

Top off with a Blazer or Jacket:|| I remember when I was little my grandfather would always get us a nice coat for one of our Christmas presents and I HATED it. I thought it was a waste of a present, but now I wish he still did the because the coats I love are big $$ (LOL). But really, this is something I've started to invest in since graduating college. I have one good coat and a couple of blazers I have scored on sale. If you are looking for a good coat on sale, NOW is the time to look!

Pick Classics:|| Well, let's just say they are called classics for a reason! My wardrobe is 70% classics 30% trendy. Classics are pieces you come back to year after year - like that really nice structured camel jacket. I have some classic turtlenecks from probably 2017 that I still wear and look great! A classic can also give you the option to mix and match (MY JAM)! Side note, classics don't have to be big $. Shop the sale racks.

Bonus: ADD THE SHADES!:|| I have a couple of fun, inexpensive shades I love to play around with (Amazon for the win)! Then I have my designers shades. Throwing on a pair of shades can totally transform a look! *Used shades are always a great option for designer*

Hope y'all enjoyed this post! Remember, you don't have to go out and buy new clothes - use what you have and play around with it.

Much love,

         Em
